The ferry left Harstad on time and proceeded to pick it’s way past the many islands and sounds that form this part of the coast.

We had three intermediate stops, but despite being advised to book tickets well in advance we never got more than a quarter full, making for a very pleasant journey for the full three hours it took to head north (compared to the six+ hours the Hurtigruten takes to make this journey.)

The boat arrived into Tromsø on time and it was only a short walk to my hotel, for the second hotel swap of the journey. After the closure of the Clarion at Oslo airport on my first night for renovation works, the Home Hotel With I was supposed to be staying on my final night was closed due to industrial action by hotel and restaurant workers that had been going on in Norway for weeks, so instead I’d been moved across the road to the Home Hotel Aurora.

I’d arrived too late for Fika, but dinner had just started as I arrived so after dumping my bags in my room I headed down for dinner before heading out into town for a wander and then back to my room for an early night.
