The flight ended up being delayed coming off of it’s flight from Marseille and the passengers from that flight were only just disembarking as boarding was supposed to have been closing for our flight so a hefty delay was looking likely, not helped by it being a full flight and a smaller plane with limited locker space.
Because of this the gate agents decided that everyone in group 5 or above who had a wheely suitcase had to have it checked into the hold, which was causing a bit of disruption at the gate, but it did work as from starting boarding to the doors closing was less than 20 minutes so clearly no hand luggage is the way to go.
We eventually pushed back about 30 minutes late and headed north towards Norway, arriving into Oslo just before half past midnight, which meant I had barely 30 minutes to get through the airport, pick up my bags and make it to the bus stop before the last shuttle bus of the night (80Kr) to the hotel left and I’d be forced to take a taxi (500Kr).
I was one of the first off of the plane, and as everyone else was moving quite slowly the first person to reach the border and clear immigration, but of course this meant that I had to then wait an age at the baggage belt as the bags were slowly drip fed up the belt.
At 23:55 I had pretty much resigned myself to having to pay through the nose to get to the hotel when my bag suddenly popped into view coming up onto the belt, so I was able to quickly grab it, head through customs – thankfully deserted – and made the correct choice to turn left out of the arrivals doors to be right by the exit from the terminal for the bus stop.
I made the last bus to the hotel with less than 90 seconds to spare, but that was all that counted. On my way over to the hotel I checked in online and downloaded my electronic door key so I was able to get off the bus at the hotel and head straight to my welcoming bed for the night.
