That proved to be the case once again and despite having left it quite late, I was still at the gate 45 minutes before departure.
It was a pretty smooth flight across to The Netherlands, with a hefty tailwind speeding us across from wheels up to wheels down in less than 40 minutes.
Unfortunately, that landing was on the Polder Runway, from which it’s a 20 minute taxi to the gate, so any time that we’d made up from a slightly behind schedule departure at City was lost and we ended up pulling onto the gate 15 minutes behind schedule.
The usual long walk at Schiphol from the gate to the central area and the immigration hall where there was just two members of staff covering the all other passports desks, so it took over 30 minutes to finally cross the border.
Thankfully it was a pretty short walk over to the bus stop for the bus a couple of stops round the airport estate to the bus stop closest to my hotel for the night.
I checked in, and headed down to the hotel bar for a quick night-cap before returning to my room and in for the night.
