Terminal 5 |
Rating: |
ORD CHICAGO TT0107 /221750 |
General: |
Massive airport serving as a major hub for North America. Terminals 1-3 are located apart from the International Terminal (5), normally linked by a people mover which was being upgraded when I visited so replacement buses were in use |
Appearance: |
The International terminal looks relatively modern and good, by US Airport standards, the domestic terminals look more run down |
Domestic
There are no domestic arrivals at this terminal
International
After walking up from the airbridge you descend into the combined immigration and baggage hall. From baggage it’s a short queue to get through customs and then out to the main arrivals hall
Immigration was surprisingly quick and efficient, with a wait time of less than 20 minutes to get through to baggage
The large baggage hall has lots of belts, though with low ceilings it feels very cramped
From the baggage hall you join a queue to exit by seeing a customs official
From terminal 5 you have to take inter terminal transit to Terminal 2 where the Blue Line subway connects the airport to the city centre
Domestic
There are no domestic flights from this terminal
International
After check-in you pass through a small cramped corridor to the TSA passport checks and then into security. Due to limited capacity for TSA checks there are long queues to get into security, but then more security lanes open than TSA check lines so the lines for security are short. Through security and you are in the large departure lounge that leads to all of the gates
Several café/bars airside, very little landside
